How do tell if my child has lice?
Head lice are tiny insects that can vary in color from grayish white to reddish brown. Lice range in size from 2-4mm, approximately the size of a sesame seed. Lice and their eggs (nits) live on the head, close to the scalp. The louse lays eggs by gluing them to the hair, and as a result the eggs will be stuck to the hair shaft. If you find something that you are suspicious of, you can tape it down and bring it in. We will check under our microscope to be sure.
YIKES! My child has been sent home from school with lice. What should I do?
First things first, don’t panic. While you may have the urge to pick every nit ASAP, take a deep breath, relax, and call the experts. By the time your child shows symptoms of lice, they’ve likely had lice for a couple of weeks. Give us a call to schedule a head check or lice removal service, and we’ll go from there.
